President's Message

Aloha paddlers and welcome to Kailua Canoe Club. The Board of Directors have been working very hard preparing for the 2010 season with many sun-filled activities! Our 400+ members make KCC one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the State.

Head Coach's Message

Welcome to Kailua Canoe Club’s 2010 season. What a fun year we had in 2009! At the beginning of the season we said that we hoped “to field every crew from 10-and-under to 60-plus, gaining points needed to win regattas and build even more depth for our distance program.”

About Kailua Canoe Club

In 1971, KCC was the vision of two coaches and about 50 paddlers who had been paddling with the Kailua Hawaiian Civil Club (KHCC).  Those two paddlers were Jimmy Marciel and Cliff Ornellas.  This tight-knit group of paddlers purchased the koa canoe "Kalanakila" (Victorious) from KHCC, bought a canoe trailer and a fiberglass training canoe affectionately called the "water wiggle".  Cliff and Jimmy researched and adopted the petroglyph paddleman (our club logo), chose blue and gold as our club colors and Kailua Canoe Club was founded.  (read more)
